New constitution
The 2002 Constitution is now in effect. The constitution now enables the President to be re-elected for a single consecutive period and it eliminates the closed voting stations. All other articles of the 1994 Constitution remain the same.


What are closed voteing stations and how do the differ from the new system?

System used to vote

The closed system required that all the voters enter the polling place . They are then registered, checking their documents against the master list.

Then they cast their votes and leave. Mornings for the girls and afternoons for the boys.

In the open system, the women can go into the polling stations at any time during the morning, register, be checked, and vote. Same thing for the men in the afternoon.
