I'm planning on moving to the Punta Cana area in a week, and was wondering if anyone knows of a reputable firm or lawyer in that area. I'm looking to get residency, and start a business in the tourism sector. I'm also wondering if you are able to start a business immediately after applying for residency or do you need to wait until it is processed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can do anything you want in the DR, if you are willing to pay the consecuences..it is that simple.
I am sure that our resident legal beagle, Sr. Guzman, will advise you to go slowly, carefully, before you get yourself hurt..monetarily speaking, at least.
He will be more than happy to show you the way, and he is as good as we have here in the DR....
