Hurricanes always go toward the north, agreed? If you did, you'd be wrong. Tropical storms and hurricanes are perverse beasts, making it very difficult for metereologists to predict with accuracy what areas will be affected.

Consider Kyle, a storm that was born well to the north of the DR; closer to Bermuda than to the DR. But instead of going, as expected, in a northerly direction, it has been moving southwest. Present wind speed is 85 mph. This storm is presently not a threat to the DR, but don't be surprised if one of these days the North Coast gets at least some rain, thanks to Hurricane Kyle.

No, I don't agree! Just look at Hurricane Kyle. Also Isidore had a southwestern track when it was close to the Yucatan Peninsula.
