Does anyone know the names of the major(or not so major) service/aid organizations (like save the children) in the DR?
I'm interested in finding a volunteer position or an internship?
Any suggestions would be helpful
Thanks

Caitlin, what kind of time commitment are you looking to make, and what kind of work would be your ideal? (working with children, working in agriculture, health etc.)

caitlin, click on "search" at top of this page, then do a search for volunteer organizations. You will find a lot of information and suggestions there. (I confirmed this by checking before posting this.)

Thanks Ken!

Leja, i'm pretty open to whatever, but working with women's rights/health would be ideal.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks

If you are at all interested in working with kids, check out www.orphanage-outreach.org, which sends groups of volunteers to an orphanage in Esperanza and also one in Monte Cristi.

I have done the program 3 times and can give you any info about it that you may need!

The United Nations Women's Organization has its headquarters in Santo Domingo...Planned Parenthood does too. Save the Children, Children Internaitional all have offices here. See about getting something from your side before coming.
RE: TESOL-> Any Cmoounity College or University has courses in this, especially close to NYC or a major urban center..
