You won't regret your decision to stay at the Dominicus Palace. The rooms weren't anything great but the surroundings made up for that. Beautiful gardens, excellent food, wonderful beach (clear, warm water) and a hard-working animation team. There were always activities (if you wanted to participate) and lots of space to be on your own if desired. Found La Terraza had better selection as far as buffet and you shouldn't miss dining at La Scala. Many European tourists (found that there weren't many English speaking people there) and most staff were able to communicate in several languages. We found that we were mostly at the Dominicus Beach as there was more activity and more nightlife (younger people than the Palace) but again, it's a personal preference. You should also try to get off the resort and visit Bayahibe.
