Well Water Question??

I have two houses back to back with seperate wells. The water from the first well is pumped into a sistern and then into the house. The water from the second well is pumped directly into the other house. The house with the direct water gets a white coating (some kind of lime or calcium or something) on all the bath and sink fixtures which is very hard to remove. SO, i assume that if I were to use a sistern for the second system the problem would be helped.

Is there any kind of system that will remove this stuff from the water? ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE HELPFUL. (NORTH COAST IF IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE AS TO WHAT'S IN THE WATER!)

If you check the sistern you'll probably find a lot of sediment in the bottom. The water from wells close to the coast is usually very "hard" or mineral-rich and the only way that I know of for eliminating these minerals is to buy very expensive equipment. So my recommendation .... use the same sistern for both houses and clean the sistern once a year.
