As if Pepegate and the dollar news were bot bad enough, we now have a nation which is possibly mined with explosive artifacts in populated areas around the country.
The recent explosion that killed children in Palmar de Ocoa, which is the total responsibility of the Armed Forces, now is being blamed on campesinos who took unexploded shells from an Air Force firing range and brought it into town and the kids used them as fireworks for the holidays.
But the truth is that the Chief of the Armed Forces, who in my opinion spends too much time with social events, including writing and selling autographed books, promised to clean each and every munition depot and weapons deposits and remove them from populated areas. Now he intends to place the blame on uneducated, poor and ignorant peasants who do not understand the material they are finding and handling. He does not understand that poor peasants would recover anything of metal value to sell and buy bread, but they cannot tell the difference between a piece of scrap metal and a bomb.
After the big blunder with the Pepegate investigation where the planes have been left out, now we have the Granadagate. If you recall, many people died and were maimed for life in San Cristobal when a munitions deport exploded due to negligence. These people were not repaired financially, except fixing their houses with lumber and zinc roofs. But financially, they never got much help. Well the story repeats again.
