My retired father is going to DR and staying at the Caribe Campo Club. I dont seem to be able to find out much about the area or the resort. I could really use a little (if not alot) of information about the resort, surrounding areas, resturants, ect. This will be his first trip to the DR and as he is 73 years old and Im a little concerned. I also understand there is a Casino near by which his girlfriend is interested in. Any advise on the local ar any casinos? Thanks in advance for any help. :cross-eye

Why not ask before the reservations are made ?.
Can you still change ??. if not hope for the best.
The place is a little while out of the town of Sosua .He will need a taxi for everything,
Nothing is in walking distance as when he would have stayed in Sosua or Cabarete.

Thank you so much for your reply. Is there a beach within walking distance? Have you been in the area before? They understand its a taxi ride to everywhere, just looking for casinos, restauants, ect. Any more advice? Also any attractions or areas that are a must see within taxi service? Also if I might ask are you from the the USA. How is the English? Thanks so much for your help.

PS to Paul

They have a time share and have been trying to get into St Thomas for 2 years and went with this instead of Cancun. They wanted to try something different.

the resort is passed Sosua inland away from any beach.
there might be a shuttle during the day.But for later in the afternoon or evenings to go out you are on your own.
taxis to and from might not be all that easy especially at night.
Taxis hate to leave the main roads.
As most resorts are not full you should be able to exchange your timeshare for a better value.
I did not even think that it was a timeshare quality.
While most big resorts can easy help in english.
This smaller german owned resort catered to german clients.

Check http://www.caribecampoclub.de/eng/index.htm (yes it is in english).
The Next Casino would be in Playa Chiquita, not a big one, he has to take a Taxi to go there, as he will have to take a Taxi to go everywhere because CCC is a little up the Hill. They do offer a Shuttle Bus to the Beach during the day, i think it's leaving every 30 Min. (dominican)

I think a 73 yr old American who wants to go to the Beach and whom's Girlfriend likes Casinos is better of in the Playa Dorada in Puerto Plata.

Saludos

 Thank You so much for the information. They just left this morning and were told they could change locations if they are not happy with where they are. I think thats going to happen. I think they would be much happier in Puerta Plata where access is easier to everything. Thanks again for your information it should be interesting to see what developes.
