I have read about divorces in dominican that both parties have to consent to this, i also read that you only have to post an ad in the news paper to get a divorce which is it.

This guy i love is here in Alaska has been living here went there in 2001 and now he's a daddy, now his parents pushed for a marriage, which i think this was totally wrong because one he doesn't even love this girl she is only 18 and he 48.

he only did this because of his parents and family pushing him, and because of the baby, this is a new marriage only happened 12-02 and this is 1-03 he is already talking divorce, but I think his parents and family and/or her the mother of the baby's parents will talk him out of this.

I am afraid of this happening. He told me his sorry for this. They are both from Dominican. I know he regrets this whole thing. Not the baby (it's not the baby's fault) but the marriage, and sleeping with this girl. He said see what a night of drinking did and now he has these problems. You can learn from this or pass it on.

The other problem is that he loves the Dominican and I am afraid, he'll move back there and this girl won't give him a divorce. Do people approve of this sort of marriage back there, because of the age difference? And the last question is the marriage public records.

IANAL*, so I am not going to attempt to give you any definitive answers on any of your other questions, but as far as this one is concerned, just ask yourself how people viewed Anna Nicole Smith's marriage in the States -- extreme age differences in marriages carry pretty much the same connotations worldwide. Whether they are always true is an entirely different matter.

As for your quote, "only have to post an ad in the news paper to get a divorce," as far as I know from my own personal divorce experience, that is simply not true. Sure, there's something called a "steam divorce" here, which can get any marriage annulled in a very short turn-around period, but still, you need legal representation and the corresponding proceedings -- whether its required that an ad be placed in the paper or not, I can't recall.

Concerning the rest of your love triangle, I have no comment.

*I am not a lawyer.

you wasted your time then. Because I am not concerned with people who don't know how to answer with respect.

Cranky, are we? You WERE given a respectful reply that I now doubt you deserved.

AFAIK, and IANAL either, many legal procedures have to be published in the newspapers (adoptions, divorces, constitution of companies, etc.) but that does not constitute the whole procedure. Check the archives for more information.

But why am I losing my time when I could be doing better things?

Do you know Rincon means "corner??" That is what you are in...

1) You have to go thru a divorce process with lawyers, courts and so forth. These are called "Quickie" divorces and are a major source of income for the government and tourism. They are legal in the States. One of the last processes is the publication
"in a newspaper of national circulation" the extract of the divorce decree.
2) These 48-18 "marriages"are not uncommon. Something about tight cats and trophy wives. The largest casino owner at 71, just married a babe of 21--supposedly for love. Spent 1/2 million US$ on the show. He owns lots of Phizer(?) stock....He is wanted by the DEA and the FBI for money laundering and can';t leave the DR, so they say, but with a babe like that who needs to leave??
3) You can continue to play with this guy but you will be thrid violin in a little orchestra.

now his parents pushed for a marriage
now his parents pushed for a marriage

This guy is 48 - a middle aged man - and he gets pushed into a marriage by his parents against his will? Come on! Is he a man or a boy?

Incidentally, cmrincon, how old are you?

 Ok I'll be Ken for the day and say if you're going to talk about personal stuff take it to the men are from mars and women are from venus forum. Some professionals are too busy to get through all this to see if there is a question they can answer.

Are you sure you're in Alaska and not some part of the South Pole? Because in your world, up is obviously down and viceversa.

Your claim that I "don't know how to answer with respect" is about as absurd as it gets. I guess 'respect' in your part of the world means that I should have tore into you and made all kinds of judgmental comments on your love triangle. Which BTW, had nothing to do with the substance of the legal questions that I tried to address.

Perhaps you'd never heard of that popular bit of advice that goes "if you have nothing good to say about someone, say nothing at all"? Because I try to live by it. After all, your private life is none of my own damn business and I don't care to get involved in it.

Respectfully,
