Pardon my ignorance, but what does POP stand for, that I see often in many posts ????

Do you speak IATA?

POP is the IATA code for the Puerto Plata International Airport and is basically used as a short form way of saying Puerto Plata.

Just in case PAP is Port au Prince, Haiti
STI is Santiago, SDQ is Santo Domingo...I don't rmember the codes for Punta Cana and La Romana...
