Default Taking your car from the U.S. to D.R.

I would like to know if anyone has experience with taking their car from the U.S. to D.R. I am hoping to move to D.R. later this year and I am considering taking a Wrangler Jeep. I would appreciate any information on import taxes or fees associated with this.
    Thank you,
    Stephane.

    It all depends:

Are you moving down here? As a legal resident?

The quote i got for importing a 2000 Tacoma 4x4 was 90,000 pesos tax plus shipping which is about 1200$ US

This is before the new 10% tax on imports.

This also would not include any "tips" you might need to pay to get your vehicle back...
