Hi, New User Here.

Im staying at Melia Caribe Tropical in September, and I have heard that Occidental Flamenco Resort has the best nightclub called Mangu.

Does anyone know the distance between these 2 resorts ??

How much is a taxi ??

What time does Mangu nightclub Close ??

Are there taxis readily available in the early hours when Mangu closes to go back to Melia Caribe ????

Thank you in advance for any replies.

The distance is about 2-3 miles as the road twists from the Melia hotels to the Flamenco. During the day there are gua-guas (minibuses) traveling by the Melia to Plaza Bavaro area, which is the nearest stop to the Flamenco. It is a short walk from the bus stop to the resort. Bus fare is 8-10 Pesos. Buses stop running after 9-10 PM. Taxi's are available, fares will run 80-100 Pesos. Negotiate your fare and best to make arrangements for the taxi to return to pick you up or have the Flamenco call a taxi for you when you want to return to the Melia. Note: To enter the nightclub, you will have to purchase a night pass at the Flamenco. Night passes may run from $30 - $45 US, best check with the resort on their policy and cost. See the (Debbies) website below to get an idea how the two resorts are situated. Regards, PJT

Excuse me?

I have been to Punta Cana 4 times already, and have stayed at the Melia Caribe Tropical.

Of all those times, I have always gone to Mangu to dance and never had to pay a penny to get in the club.

Especially not $US45!!! It sounds like someone got ripped off!!!

Try to make friends with the guys from the animacion team, JUST FRIENDS, and ask them to take you to Mangu or Are?to, which is another great club...

NEVER have I paid a cover charge, and the last time I was there was last Aug-Sep. 2002...

Check with the guys at the hotel first...Ask for "Moskito", he's one of the directors of animacion...I'm sure you won't have to pay anthing to go to the clubs...

Good luck...oh, and yes...there are taxis...$US10.00 each way...

If you tell them what time, they'll be back to pick you up when you want to...

Have fun!!!

Thanks Music Queen.....

Thanks so much for that brilliant information MusicQueen.

Ive been reading your other posts on this forum about Melia Caribe and found them really helpfull.

Im going to make a note of all your notes about gettting to and from Mangu and take them with me.

About prices of drinks once in Mangu. Any Ideas ?????

I will probably drink some at Melia Caribe (all inclusively) and then just have a few in Mangu and dance the night away.

Thank you so much, your a star.........:D

Ive been reading your reviews on the www.mytravelboard/domincanbreeze website. Your comments about Melia Caribe are very imformative.

Thanks for your help, its well appreciated.;)

Are you aware of any websites that have photos of Melia Caribe from guests who have stayed there ????

Ive heard Mangu Nightclub is open till really late, I think someone said 5am, is this true ????

Also, Ive heard people say the drinks are really expensive, any ideas how much for a typical alcoholic cocktail, or a beer, or gin or bacardi with coke.

Thanks.

Mangu Nightclub Entrance !!!

Hi,

A couple of hours ago I emailed Occidental Flamenco Resort (Mangu Nightclub) to ask how much entrance is.

I quickly received a reply, saying its free entry only the drinks you pay for. Horrayyyy!!!!

I have requested off them the average price of a beer, barcardi and coke, gin and fruit juice, a cocktail and tequilla shots.

I have also asked for opening and closing times.

I'll wait and see for there reply.

Thanks everyone, Im now off in search for some dancing shoes and clubbing dresses.

All right! All right! Let?s clear the air here. Nobody I know of got ripped off for a night pass. It was my well intentioned response of a ?night pass? price to access a nightclub I believed to be on the grounds of the Flamenco, which brought about the confusion. Where is it truly? I know where the Arieto is.

My reason for the response is most of the resorts in the area have a policy to protect their guests by restricting entry to their grounds of anyone that does not have business with them. If a non-overnight guest wants to visit and and use the facilities of an A.I. resort they pay for a pass and receive a colored plastic bracelet to identify them to the staff. The passes usually are ?day? and ?night?, the policies and charges are defined by the resorts. A day pass (for example) would entitle the bearer for use of the facility, meals, and activities from 8am to 6pm and a night pass would run let?s say from 8pm to 4am., night club time.

Some exceptions to these pass policies are: visitors making use of resort golf courses, the golf fees make up for the passes; visitors going to resort casinos, the casino operators pay a commission to the resort. ( A.I.'s, requiring visitors pay for drinks at nightclubs.)

The real rip-off here is the taxi price, US $10 is a tourist price; should be no more than 100 Pesos. If they are going to charge you $10, I?ll take you there for free, just to find out where they are hiding the club.
