The chairman and chief executive of American Airlines resigned Thursday as labor leaders and negotiators for the carrier agreed to a sweetened package of cost cuts in an effort to keep the company out of bankruptcy.

I wasn't really a big fan of Don Carty but he got the job done at AA. Do you have the news story? Can you post it?

I couldn't be happier! You look at all things Carty did since he took over and not one of them really benefited AA. Some highlights that come to mind:

1. Reno Air acquisition;
2. TWA acquisition;
3. Post 9/11 restructuring

I think they should have brought Crandall back, we'll see what kind of job Arpey does.
