Welcome to the site, Rubio! I just came back from visiting your beautiful country...you'll find lots of regulars on the site live in the DR...where in the DR are you from?

Visit the media gallery, and post a pic of yourself for Musicqueen! She's single, intelligent, and sweet...I figured I'd start working on your pic for her so that by the time she reads your post, maybe your pic will be up!

You were thinking of education and career at the young age of 12??? Ambitious, I'd say...I think I was only thinking of food back then!

What a shame. Canada is very pretty in it's unique way. Toronto es una ciudad bonita. Tambi?n amo Nova Scotia. Ha sido muchos a?os desde que viaj? all?.

You must travel a lot to D.R. since your husband is from there. Do you own a home there to vacation or stay with relatives? You must spend your summers over there, I'm sure!

I uploaded my photos but I'm not sure if I did it correctly. Apparently not because they are not in view in the media gallery (I think?) Does anyone know how that works?

Rob is on Dominican time...once you've uploaded them, he has to do something, and then voila, you're on! Just kidding, Rob, I know, "DR1 is just a small part of your day"!!! So, when Robert has some time, your photos will be up for all to see...

Canada is very pretty, but I'm far from TO and NS...I'm in Calgary, the greatest part of Canada!

I've spent a lot of time in the DR (I lived there in 2000), we're looking for land to buy (Jazzcom put an idea in my head, we're going to have to do some research the next time we're back). Now that we have kids, I'm afraid travel isn't going to be so frequent...

Cada ciudad tiene sus problemas I.E. saneamiento, transporte, gente sin hogar, etc. Cuando dije la Rep?blica Dominicana es hermosa, yo no especific? Santo Domingo inparticular. Signifiqu? el pa?s en general.

Sin embargo, ahora no he visitado mi pa?s por muchos a?os. Y las cosas cambian...

Sanitation is a problem, but try living in a city where you need an escort everywhere you go for fear of being kidnapped for money. :paranoid:

My two cents.

When you click on www.dr1.com...you'll see "message boards" to the left of your screen. If you scroll down even more you'll see "Media Gallery." I uploaded my photos but it appears they have not been posted yet, or I have done something wrong, OR I'm looking for them in the wrong place! Either, or ;)

Of the 5 countries you have lived in, which did you like the most?

Criss Colon:

There is no denying there are kidnappings in the D.R. But you simply cannot compare it to: Colombia, South Africa, Mexico, Brasil, Ecuador, Philippines, Nigeria, not to mention Russia and India. Many of these countries I have visited and a couple I have lived in. It was a part of life. Period.

There are so many other things to discuss about the D.R. than "garbage" and the "high profile kidnappings."

I read enough of that in newspapers.

My two cents.

Re: Another newbie here

Thank for the welcome Rubio,

I think the country I enjoyed living the most in was Italy.
I do love the history, the people, food, wine, the climate and all that jazz, I would move there in a heartbeat, if I would be alone:)))))

So, what do you do that you travel that much? If it's not a secret and if it won't cost me my life:))))

I do hope I can meet more folks here and offer themmy travel services and advise.

Thanks again:cool:

Two of my favorite countries to visit are Chile and Switzerland. Luxembourg is lovely too! And of course any place with a beach is just wonderful.

I work for an international corporation...so I travel quite a bit. It can be both enjoyable and tiresome at the same time I get used to it.
