I tried to get into Aunt Clara's place but they wouldn't accept my name--Okey, they don't like hillbillies... No sweat..

Anyway here is what I need to know: how much, more or less, does a peck of tomatoes weigh? A "peck" is a dry measure, 1/4th of a bushel, 8 quarts dry measure...

anybody know the answer??

A peck of tomatoes equals 12-14 pounds -according to a recipe from the better homes and garden cookbook-.

LazyGirl is right on. The "standard" bushel weights 53 pounds, or 13.25# per peck. As with all volumetric measures, actual weights may vary considerably due to variable densities of the product being measured.
