Latin Clubs in Montreal

There's one that's called Punta Cana (dominican club) that's located at the corner of Jean-Talon and Clark. I would suggest you go out with a couple of friends and not alone. Another latin club is the salsatheque and that's located on Peel street. Salsatheque is located downtown (i believe it's Peel street, i'm not 100% sure, but you can ask anybody and they'll be able to help you). This one is a lot safer than the first one. Hope you have fun dancing :)

Here comes the specialist !

Since I am living in Montreal here is my top 4

4. Cubano's (Downtown on Ste-Catherine corner of Bleury): Cuban club. They play a lot of salsa there but also lets say 30% of merengue-bachata. The crowd is mainly Latino(Colombians and Cubans for the majority) and there's also a lot of FrenchCanadians there. 75% of the crowd is 25 years old and up.

3. Salsath?que (Downtown on Peel boulevard): Nice club, very large too- there enough place to dance. The music playing, like the name is saying, is mainly salsa but there's a lot of merengue too. After every 5-6 salsa songs you'll have a merengue or a bachata. The crowd very cosmopolite- Latinos, Arabes, other Caribbean nations, Italians, FrenchCanadians, AngloCanadians and even Asians. The crowd is 50-50, under 25 and over 25 years old.

2. Punta Cana (Petite Italie known as "El Barrio" for Montreal Latinos, on Jean-Talon corner of Clark): Nice club although very small. The music playing is mainly merengue and bachata but you'll have some salsa and cumbia too. The crowd is mainly Latino (80%) with a huge percentage of Dominicans, the rest of the crowd are FrenchCanadians and Haitians for the most part. For this club depending of the evening you go the crowd might be very young 18 to 24 years old or medium old 25 to 40 years old.

1. Copacabana (Downtown on De Maisonneuve corner of Stanley): Mi num?ro UNO. Very nice club a littlebit small but I don't care the heat since the music is soooo good! The music is really a mix- salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaeton, hiphop, cumbia, ra?, rap, rock etc... The crowd is reflecting Montreal reality...very cosmopolite. One dance you'll dance with a Morrocan, the other one with a Dominican, another one with a Canadian, one with a Jamaican, this one with an Indian, let's not forget the one you'll dance with the Peruvian and the last one with this fine Colombian. Know what I mean?... ;). The crowd is young to medium young anything between 18 and 30 years old.

Some honorable mentions for:

A. Tiffany's (NDG barrio known as "Burgundy" among the AngloCaribbean community): Soca and reggae lovers you'll be blessed there! Crowd is mainly jamaican and trinidadian. 30 years old and less for the majority.

B. Le Classique (Downtown the club next to the Copacabana): Konpa and zouk lovers will be pleased there. They also have their 1 hour mix of Latin music (interesting but I think someone will have to tell those Haitians that Suavemente of Elvis Crespo is not "in" anymore.......lol). Crowd is mainly haitian with let's say a 20% of FrenchCanadians and depending of the night you come you may find Latinos,Italians and Arabs. 35 years old and less for the majority.

C. Exit (Downtown on St-Laurent corner Prince-Arthur): HipHop kingdom! 2 floors, very huge! Crowd is like the Copacabana one, very very various. Anything between 18 and 27 years old which means kinda young. The music is hot non-stop! The crowd is here to party and you can feel it even on the line up!

I hope I was helpful to you. Welcome to Montreal and enjoy your trip there!:)

Hola,

Welcome to DR1. This thread is over two years old but I will give you this website that I think is great for information on dance lessons- all rhythms and it has a summary of Latin clubs in Montreal. The info about the clubs is quite accurate and if you want my input on some of them I can certainly give you my opinion. Anyway have a look at the website and enjoy! :classic:

Lindalin1...

I know you are new to the forum but just an fyi..you have to stay on topic. This thread is for Montreal Latin clubs. You can do a search for clubs in Toronto as it has been discussed here before. However, here is an accurate website about salsa in Toronto. Latin clubs in Toronto are quite different from Montreal but like I said this is a Montreal thread. Enjoy!

Since you had such a bad experience with a Dominican man and feel Cuban men are the same, why don't you try a different country.
