I was wondering how easy it would be to commute from San Christobal to Santo Domingo everyday for work. Either by driving or by any other means. Do many people do this? Thanks,
Ryan

Many Dominicans do just that!

The great majority on little busses.Hot,crowded, dangerous, time consuming, but cheap. You could drive your own car.Depending on your "hours" it would be in heavy trafic.Criss Colon

San Cristobal-Santo Domingo Corridor

Traffic in the Capital is a real bear. You will have to consider where your work site is in Santo Domingo. If it is near the Colonial Zone you have quite a long trip by bus. It is less expensive than a car and someone else is doing the driving. You are also subject to irregular or no service depending on the behavior of the bus sindicates, especially the San Cristobal-Santo Domingo corridor because competing bus companies have been warring against another, going so far as blocking routes and bus vandalisms. A car is much more costly, but convenient: you pick the route, stop and go when you want, stressful: heavy traffic, irrational driver behavior, limited parking in places. If your budget and stress level allow, a car is a better choice. Regards, PJT
