Fellow DR1 members,

Mucho mucho gracias for coming out for the DR1 party at the Hotel Jaragua on May 24, 2003. It was wonderful to congregate and I felt a genuine sense of camaraderie among all who attended. Tim kept the servers on their toes and Robert assisted with the party give-aways. Without further adieu, the attendees:

Adriana - Woo boy. For all you guys who missed out, I had no idea that Ms. Venezuela was going to show up at the DR1 party. What a heart stopper and genuinely polite too.

Mr. PIB - A Danish navigator and nice guy. Best wishes on your
upcoming marriage to Mrs. PIB. And I am jealous!!

CLEEF (Clint) - nice guy. Thank you for coming!! Thanks for the contribution.

CHRISTIAN - Cutty Sark Winner and nice guy!!

Dolores - this woman is very intelligent, gracious and made me feel right at home. She can dance too!!

Dolores Husband - nice man and he can dance as well! Enjoy the Mick Jaggar CD. I like the funky tune, 'Lucky Man'.

JAN - what an illuminating woman. When JAN arrived -the party became official. This woman is radiant. Enjoy the Jazz CD.

Johnny Honda - genuine nice guy. Didn?t need my bodyguard after found out that Johnny did 8 years in San Quentin. Just kidding, I swear it! A grounded, intelligent Canadian ex-pat. You?ll like Circus of Souls. A cult classic.

Mark - super bright guy. He did what I?ve always wanted to do - Walk away from the rat race and start his own business. Best wishes with Adriana and your Internet Casino.

PIB - Grand prize winner of the No. 1 DVD - ''Catch Me If You Can''. PIB?s IQ is on another planet. Yet, she is very warm and very down-to-earth. And PIB is a head turning beauty as well.

Tony - all around nice guy. Thanks man for coming. Hope you like the Hillbilly/PIB shirt!!

SCANDALL (Randy) - great guy as well. You guys were hidden in the woodwork of Santo Domingo. Thanks for coming to the party.

Sunny - Thanks for coming. Sunny is in med school and just passed a difficult first phase U.S. exam. Best of luck.

TIMEX (Tim) - I like this guy flat out. He is what you call in Hillbilly parlance - '' a straight arrow ''. A no-nonsense, sargeant-of-arms guy that you want around. Thanks for attending and the contribution.

Mrs. Timex (Mechi) - the total opposite of Mr. Timex. Quiet, demure, ...did you say two words the entire night, Mechi? Just kidding. This woman is very attractive and polite.

Robert - A laser physicist who trapsed acrossed Australia for 6 years.. something like that. What a story. Contrary to any belief, Robert is not a staid man. That is only his role as webmaster, akin to being a headmaster in Latin school. A super intelligent guy that you could listen to for hours and not get bored. An incredible asset to DR1.

I'm sure that I?m leaving 2 or 3 people out. There was a tall drop dead girl that came in late and I have forgotten her name. Girlfriend of CLEEF or Christian? If I have that wrong, please correct. Your girlfriend was striking and polite as well.

All in all, more fun than I expected. A number of people asked about my link to the DR and it is simple - Friendly people, low stress, and your money goes further. When I return to the States, it takes me several days to get caught up in the rush-worry-rush state of life again. Viva the Dominican Republic.

If anyone who received a compilation CD would like song/artist detail, feel free to email me at kingofdice@aol.com and I will provide a list.

Again, a very sincere thank-you to everyone who came, because you made the party a success. We missed AMBER, GOLO, and CRISS and were hoping that you all would walk in the door any moment. And if anyone found a little blue Kodak throw-away camera, please post the pics. Yikes!!

Sincerely,
kingofdice

You should have... Your social calender cant be THAT full!

MQ probably couldn't lose her Sanki:)

Johnny Honda made it? TRuly amazing. Ok he is off my doodie list for the stunt he pulled Easter.

Criss NEVER SHOWS UP! You have to promise him 5 free meals next time. Two isn't enough for him!

Adrianna, now that Pib is taken maybe?...

Glad everyone had a great time! Wish I could have made it but...

Thanks, Anna. I hope we can soon get more people identified.

I think the North Coast group was better looking.

That's correct, Anna. But it was a group picture.

How were we to know that our photographer was a lush and only talked a good game about his skills as a photographer?

Asked King of Dice why he threw the party, and he explained that DR1 had given him so much, that he wanted to give something back! Thanks!

So, he cared enough to host a special party from the heart -- free CDs including some burned by himself (we won a Mick Jagger classic!), T-shirt (in honor of Hillbilly and Pib), the drinks on him. The stars of the evening were Johnny Honda, who drove in from Puerto Plata and Mr. Pib (from Denmark), making him debut. He is a lucky man to get Pib for keeps, but just maybe we can turn it into everyone's gain. Maybe we can plan a DR1 meeting in Denmark sometime in the future. Pib sent the link to Mr. Pib's husband's parents hotel, and we have just started planning...

Our pleasure that evening to meet you all -- we will be getting together with Mr. and Mrs. Timex to instruct them on wormculture (and its positive effects on the environment and on everyone's gardens), and was happy to meet Scandal who will coincidentally be teaching at my son's school. His cv includes criminal justice studies, which I think is appropriate for dealing with those eighth graders, if he is assigned my son's hyperactive class.

And to Jan, was serious when suggesting that you get into drama. May I suggest you contact the people at the Santo Domingo Little Theater. The next meeting is Friday, May 30th, at poolhouse on Anacaona II, Tel. 482-7384, 8 pm. For directions and to coordinate what to bring, call Soiree Mendez at 914-9911. Just tell her Dolores Vicioso says you have talent and should be part of the next Little Theater show.

We had a great TIME!!!!!!!

My wife & I, really enjoyed meeting everyone again, and some for the 1st time!

Keeping the waiter on his toes- I don't think so!
I had been waving over to the bartender ( Rafi ), and every time he would point to us while getting our waiter's attention--
The guy would turn around- and his eyes would automatically go up to the, basketball game on the big screen up on the wall behind us!!!!!!!

We really enjoyed the evening!

We are looking forward to the next one!
I'll get my photos up, as soon as I have them back.

Thanks
Mechi & Tim H.

the pleasure was mine

It was a great pleasure to meet all who attended. To those who missed it...........make the next one. Everyone there was in a festive mood and each had an interesting story. A great group!! Special thanks to King of Dice for putting it all together. Sunny and I are both med students and neither of us got much studying done on Sunday. Imagine that. And I ran outta gas before Scandall & company. It was a well-earned headache. Thanks DR1ers for a good time. hiccup, Tony
