How does one find the owner of property in the DR? A simple trip to the local courthouse does it in the States. Is this the same in the DR?

If needed I could hire someone to investigate this.

Registro de titulos

You will have to locate the property in the "Title registry office" in the province where the property is situated. They will issue an official certification containing all the pertinent data including the name of the registered owner.
Hire a trustworthy lawyer to have it done !

You need to have the cadastral description of the property (Lot, Block and District #, in the cities; Parcel and District #, for the countryside). Searches are done at the local Title Registry ("Registro de T?tulos"). It is not possible to conduct searches by the name of the owner.
