Directly east of Sosua By The Sea are some buildings with a pool. I guess they are condos, and I wandered around them, but didn't inquire about them. Can anyone fill me in? It seemed like an idyllic setting. - D

I think this was a different place. Perhaps it's not right next door. I entered from the beach. There were several buildings, a pool, and a large wooden deck area on the beach. Of course at my age and having destroyed so many brain cells my memory could be way off! - D

Possibly Hotel Larimar. Was probably the nicest (Not the largest) hotel in Sosua. Closed and gutted.

If memory serves me, it was in business before Sosua by the Sea and Casa Marina. A beautifull place. Too bad it went down.

x_man, You'll need

about 24 hours of non-stop walking at an average of 3 miles per hour to arrive at Playa Grande from Sos?a!!

Hotel Voramar

Stayed there March 1988, small German run hotel close to casno. Friendly helpful staff then. Walked by it earlier this year and it was still open. It is a fair walk from central part of town.

Voramar is by the Casino. Villa Chessa is nicer and more quiet with everything you could want. Long walk to the main beach in Sosua. Playa Chiquita is a small beach walking distance to the casino.

My 2 cents

What happened to Hotel Larimar?

Hi Danny,

What happened to Hotel Larimar? When did it close and do you know if it's up for sale? I use to 'hang-out' at this property when I lived in Sosua and always thought it was such a beautiful hotel. What condition is it in? If you have any more information about it, please advise.

Thanks,

Laurie

Actually upon further investigation I was interested in the apartments directly to the east of Lorimar. Lorimar is closed and I don't know what plans they have. - D

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same property, but the new hotel next to Sosua Beach has acquired an old hotel property adjacent to theirs and they will renovate it for additional rooms.

hotel on beach

Yes, I'm not sure of the name of the property you're talking about. I know about Sosua by the Sea and Hotel Larimar and have walked through the building in between. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.
I just found out that Hotel Larimar is up for sale. Does anyone know if the beach is back?

Playa Grande

You asked if the beach was back - are you talking about Playa Grande since you mentioned that you hung out there. It's all very confusing but read the previous thread on the Playa Grande rumours - it might provide some answers.
