My wife and I are looking to leaving the UK and moving somwhere more laid back where you are not taxed to the hilt or feel that you must have the latest technology or be classed as a second classed citizen. I have seen properties on various websites in the DR that have one or two apartments attached to the main house. If we were to purchase such a property and live in the main house, would the income from the apartments be enough to live on. We are not after making money we would just like a different way of life away from the rat race. As niether of us speak Spanish, I'm sure finding a job would be out of the question. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

You need to do a lot more homework. Search the archives on this site about prices of homes, apartments and so on. Search the archives on this about cost of living and how much is enough to live on. Once you've gathered some information, ask some more questions and people will be more than willing to give helpful information.
