In what can only be called incredibly ironic, the former Ecuadorian President is seeking asylum in the Dominican embassy in Quito as the result of his using government bond money to prop up two failing banks. According to Reuters:
"Former Ecuadorean President Gustavo Noboa asked the Dominican Republic for political asylum on Monday amid a probe into his government's use of bonds to aid weak banks."
