Orthidontal Surgon or maybe Dentist on the North Coast . . . Puerto Plata

I have some glue and filling junk and resin left as remenents of a molar I once had (where the crown fell off) that I need removed (maybe there is even a post in there). If anyone can provide a recomendation I'd appreciate it. I'll also scan previous posts for dentists or orthidontal surgons (I'm not quite sure which I will need to use). Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm certain there is something in the archives on this since the subject has come up before. I recall that at least two excellent dentists were recommended in Puerto Plata and one in Sosua. Since then there has been a recommendation for a dentist in Cabarete.

I did a search

I found the two dentist recommended. Has anyone had experience with the kind of work I'm talking about, I mean removal of the roots of a tooth that is totally shot. I don't want an implant, I had too many problems with the crowns already, and although I know the doctors are good in DR, I had problems with the crown materials and other complicating factors after having previous work done in the DR (long story I could get into if asked).

Sure, I have had it done in Sosua, so has my wife. Last tooth with roots removed had 4 of them. I'm certain the two dentists in Puerto Plata can do the same.

Ooops, misread your request. I was talking about root canals but you, apparently, want everything removed. You may need a dental surgeon for that. I can give you the name of an outstanding dentist in SD who specializes in root work. He was trained at Rutgars Univ. in the US and his office is as modern as any in the US.

Lee,
"She that must be Obeyed" has used Freddy Lepe in Duarte for about 8 years & speaks very highly of him - YES, he can handle your needs &/or direct you to the specialist in Santiago to handle your specific needs. As an advantage, he speaks very good English as he was trained in US of A!

I use Jose Reynes in Beller whom I have used for some 6 years. He is also excellent but might have to refer you on to a orthodental surgeon if that is what he thinks you need!! He has certainly done root canals on MY jaws (my roots tend to 'WELD' themselves on to the jaw-bone for some reason) & done a fairly good sowing job thereafter!!

PM or e-mail me if you want Tel. No's &/or a meet up sometime!! Grahame.

Frede Lepe - Dentist - POP

I've used the services of Dentist Lepe before; I've always been well satisfied. Recently, I was in the process of losing 2 molars, +-. When the teeth are gone, I wanted implants. Lepe recommended an oral surgeon in Santiago; he removed 4 molars & "installed" 5 implants. I asked that it all be done at once. Everything has gone exceptionally well; this all occurred in late June early July 2003. I'd recommend Lepe to any foreigner w/o hesitation.

TM- May I ask how much the implants where? My husband need 4!!! and we are looking to get them done in the DR rather than here in the U.S. He quoted us about US $10K for the 4 teeth.

Can't tell you about implants, but based on my experience and that of others with root canals, crowns, bridges, etc., the cost in the DR will be a fraction of what the work would cost in the US.

to: KJDRGA costs?

I'm being charged US $ 800. for each implant; the procedure takes 4 - 5 months; I'm spacing my payemtns over 4 months. In Mass., I was quoted a price of $1,500. each. Note that when the implant is completed a tooth must be "anchored" on. A dentist, not the oral surgeon, does this. As I understand it, this is exta in the USA & DR. Quality? I'm 1 1/2 months into being treated by Dr. Alfonso Genao, Santiago; so far, I'm pleased & impressed. Good fortune.

Thanks we'll have to keep this option open.... I could take us a couple of years to save up the money for this and I'm sure by then the prices all around will be higher....

I wish you luck and let us know how your treatments go...
