Hi Guys

I have just spent the last two and a half hours searching through the forums trying to find answers to my questions, unfortunately I am not haveing a deal of luck, so I have resorted to asking for help here!!

My Question ; I would like to move to the North Coast and wold have a monthly income of circa $85,000 Pesos. I would like to rent a 2 bed apt fuel my car (bought cash) eat well and go out a couple of times a week to a restraunt or bar etc.

Is this at all possible????

What if I wanted to support another person??? (female)

Thanks in anticipation

That is plenty for you and another person... even if you wanted to eat out every night...

I'm a spoiled American (90% of the daily goods I purchase are imported) living in S.D. with my girlfriend and I live off MUCH less than that a month. I rent a 2 bedroom apt. in a "somewhat upscale" section of the capital. I'm assuming its much cheaper to rent an apartment on the north coast than it is here in S.D.

Either way, you'll be more than fine with that kind of income.

The initial costs of getting an apartment (deposits), buying appliances, car, etc are the only things you might have to worry about.

Just make sure you're ready for a truly "laid back" lifestyle if you're willing to start a life here... especially on the north coast.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I read so many mixed views on here, but I guess we are all different people and so it is to be expected.

Can I just ask you if you work in the DR? and if sowhat do you do and if its not too personal what does it pay?

If you do work did you get a job before you went there or after you arrived?

Again many thanks

Hey HB,
Your keyboard fingerings, I have the same problem, reminds me of the scrawl on the back of a toilet door in an RAF camp in Sharjah a long time ago. Someone had written "I love grils". Someone else had crossed out 'grils' and replaced it with 'girls', adding "Learn to spell you idiot, you're supposed to be in the senior service and intelligent"! The next day there was a new piece of grafitti - "What's wrong with us frigging grils then"? You obviously know where the grils hang out?
AND - before you all jump in - YES, I did spend my 20 years in the British Army hanging around RAF toilets!
To keep the thread subject - Phil, you'll live better than we do if you've got RD$85,000 a month - go for it! Move to Cabarete, we now hang around in beach bars getting free Presidentes from people with RD$85,000 a month to spend! See ya there!
