I am moving to Sosua in August and will be aggressively looking for employment. Any advice would be very much appreciated sinc e the condo will have payments. haha. I just graduated for Hotel and Hospitality Management and have done everything from top to bottom in the service industry (dish to F&B manager) in many resorts around the u.s.a. Feel free to go in any direction about employment. thanks all

Give it up man

You are moving, never been there, have no job, want the ganja, you know the wage in the DR is in the RD$4,000 range or a whole US$150 a month or so?

I suggest a resort job in the USA would be more fitting then visit the DR and see if you like it.

Be prepared to make . . . .

a one way trip, the pay will be next to nothing, any money you have, put in a bank from the country your coming from, no in a DR bank for gods sake. You'll need money to leave when you decide it is not for you. Don't burn your bridges being rude to your family, you'll need a place to flop when you finally get back.

Good luck to you cos'you're gonna need it!!! How can you even consider not just visiting first and checking the situation out?
Moving here is a big step to take especially to take up gainfull(?) employment!
For your info - girls working the beach bars in Cabarete are earning less than US7.00 per 8,10 & 12 hour shifts! Presume that you don't want to go there? Generally they're paid in pesos and are really suffering at this time. Like, when they've paid their rent, which is generally in US$, they've very little left with which to buy food!!!!
Of course, with your experience you'll move right into a plum job??
Best advice - stay home - stop dreaming!

Best of luck to you Baron, and please NEVER, NEVER, NEVER stop dreaming. Its not the end of the world if you fail, you will grow from the experience. You might get lucky and live a happy life in Sosua. Just don't be stupid with the drug thing. Anyway, to help get you started, you will find a list of websites for most major hotel chains at www.debbiesdominiciantravel.com.
Buena Suerte!

Dreamers and Bachatta lovers are destined to be broke for the rest of their lives. Read that in a fortune cookie once.

If you think that he "Might get lucky" in Sosua in the Hospitality business you must like Bachatta also!

Without out dreamers columbus would have said "**** it" and said the world is flat. 100 % of the things that make the world/ universe so interesting is because someone dreamed they were true and then went and found out they were. it seems like dreamers are always hated on , even by the quality people that MOVED to the dominican. if anyone would be interested in meeting for further insites on not to hate let me know. peace...
