No, the DR is not going to become another US state. Never.

What does the fact that Puerto Ricans come here as tourists have to do with the DR becoming a state?

Isn't the USA in enough trouble as it is?

As for Peurto Ricans, most are as chopo as the ones we have here. Maybe the US could use the DR for target practice.

Oh, yeah, the US is trouble....

Just because they provide the free money to perpetuate the Dominican dream? Just because they provide the protection from your surrounding countries? Just because they allow your peoples to travel and live here (so they can send their US bucks back to their mamas)?

You are the 52nd state...you're just lucky cause you're not being taxed (US style) yet! Enjoy it while it lasts.

Puerto Rico is nat a US State!

Unless you want to call it the 51st. State. The "WELFARE" state! The US would love for Puerto Rico to be independent, but the welfare "Chopos" there would never vote for that!

Now that is a real good question!!!

I don't think the Hipoliticos would allow it, #1.
#2. It would be political suicide for the Dominican Senate to vote for such an event because their "free ride" would end.
#3. The US Congress wouldn't entertain such an event/movement because they know better.
#4. Last, but not least, the Dominican people wouldn't allow it, thereby losing their identity.
