I am a 20 year old vocational college student who will be getting a Diploma as an Air Travel Specialist in December. I have always been one to want to live in a latin american country. I lived In Mexico for some time and I liked it very much. I do not like living in the USA, I am hoping that maybe my experience in my school as being a specialist will help me with my goals of escaping the US life that I dislike so much. I am half Mexican/White and fluent in Spanish. I have a strong passion for Mexico and for the latin american culture. I have often thought of relocating to Central America or even Cuba for that matter. But Cuba is impossible. I also have a TEFL certificate. I never really started thinking about the DR until one day I just started to look it up and study what kind of place it is. And out of all the countries Iv looked up It seems to be my favorite apart from Cuba. I look at it as a Democratic Cuba. I hear very positive remarks about the DR that tops Mexico and most central America countires. And that's what I look at most of all is what is said that's positive about the country. About 70% remarks Iv heard from travelers to Cuba were very negative, in the fact that there are too many restricions and no one can walk down the street with out being harassed by a cop. My question is does the DC offer a person like me anything at my age? I do not want to get rich, I just want a change of life, maybe find a real romance, but I don't want a US american girl, In fact I don't want a girl that really cares less about US. I don't want to move back to Mexico because It's just to corrupt. I loved living there but it's a very diffacult country. The DC seems to be a decent country with a true meaning of freedom, something the US nor Cuba has for that matter. Is it diffacult to find ESL jobs just with a certificate? Or a travel industry job?

ESL jobs

You seem to have a couple of talents (except checking your post for errors?? DC = DR?? Use first finger left hand for the 'r' ;) )

Just this week there were ads in the paper for ESL teachers at the Dominico-Americano. So you might say that there are prospects there.

There are tons of travel agencies so you might catch on there and between the two make a very modest living....

As for the other thing? I'll leave that up to you..

In the DR you have to take the good with the bad

You might say the samething applies to the DR. Is really up to you. Corruption is everywhere; and don't think for one minute that it w/b easier in the DR. Unless you have a strong connection, you w/ struggle like everyone else.

Good luck in your decision.
