The Fall/Winter symphony season kicks off tonight at the Teatro Nacional.

Tonight's Program:

--------------

Hector Berlioz: Roman Carnival Overture , Op. 9
Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Concerto No .5 in E-flat major, Op. 73 " Emperor "

Intermission

J. Sibelius: The Swan Of Tuonela
Maurice Ravel: Bolero.

Conductor: Carlos Piantini
Piano Soloist: David Allen Wehr
----------------

While the "Emperor" concerto and the "Bolero" are often programmed here, the Sibelius is a novelty that evokes the Finnish landscape. Worth checking out.

Fall season

There are 4 concerts in Fall: Set 10, 17th, two in Oct (last being Oct 29th).

However, there are usually a few one-time events not included in the regular season roster. I know for a fact there will be a winners' concert featuring some piano compeition winners playing piano concertos sometime in Oct. I'll post here when I find out more details.

There are 4 regular concerts in winter season stating Feb/18/2004.

Hope that helps !
