The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, FDA, has issued a public advisory on October 2nd against the use of Litargirio. It is a yellowish powder used as a deodorant and for diverse medical remedies "particularly by people from the Dominican Republic". The substance contains LEAD. They mention it has been produced by laboratories in the Dominican Republic. Litargirio has been linked to several cases of lead poisoning in children in Rhode Island. (Note: 2000 US Census has Rhode Island with about 18,000 reported Dominicans) Regards, PJT
