I remember reading that there was going to be a port on the north coast fro cruise lines. Has taht happened and if so how is this tourism helping the island? I ask because I'm writing a report on cruis line tourism and the US. and would love to include DR.

The port that is working the best is that of La Romana. Santo Domingo also receives several ships. The Puerto Plata port is on hold until the power generators are removed.
