We will be at Puerto Plata Village in the Dominican during the 2 weeks of July 10 - July 24. Is this part of hurricane season? Do the hotels have safety measures in place for guests?
The good news is they seldom effect the North Coast. Last year's, for example, wasn't even felt there. The bad news, since they have no reason to prepare, they probably haven't.
The chances are minimal at that time of the year. September is the big month and most hurricanes miss. In 1989 the Playa Dorada resorts made extensive preparations for Hugo. This included evacuation to Florida or home for most tourists there. Hugo veered north and we didn't even get a cloud. Georges; however, was bad news for the south coast.
