Can I live comfortable on $2000 MONTH USD?

As a Captain my income is not gauranteed, but I have an Internet Business that does quite well. Would like to get a feel for the cost of living comfortable in Luperon or the Puerto Plata areas.

Does anyone think that $2K a month would be adequate to budget for one person? Room and Board.............

Thanks
Captain Jerry

Does the Pope pray?

Yes, US$2,000 is more than enough to get you a bed and board.

At todays rate that's RD$90,000 monthly. The average wage is RD$4,500 monthly.

I suggest you read all this site and message board, start with this thread.

Returned from the DR last night

Rob is absolutely correct. After spending 2 1/2 weeks in Sabaneta, I was shocked too see how far a local can stretch a peso. One guy I met bragged about how well off he was because he spoke english and earned about 20,000 peso a month operating his billard shop. The local girls swarmed around him as if he was really something special Hahaha....
