Are most buisinesses that cater to tourists- owned by foreigners in the DR?

To anyone who might know the answer,quick question:I was talking to a friend of mine about the businesses that cater to tourists in the DR,such as hotels & bars etc..and he asked me if most of such buisinesses are owned by foreign nationals.Anyone care to answer?

I would say that 9*% are owned by Dominicans but leased to foreigners. In the early 80's most were operated by French Canadians however over the years leases were taken over by Germans, Italians etc. I'm sure there are others, but the only one that comes to mind, Canadian owned and operated by the same person since 1983/4 is Eddy's.
