Only way it would be a huge hit is if they allow betting as well.
The NBA is actually hugely popular in the DR. The NBA even played an exhibition game in SD last year. Unfortunately like most things it would likely be frequented for 2 years at most by the people who can afford it, then they'll move onto the next great thing. Just not enough money for locals to waste in the DR on those kind of places. Most would rather eat at home.
HOWEVER......put gambling in the mix and it's huge.
