Just curious, is there any major difference in price from buying bottles of liquor in the duty free in the airports from buying them in stores in Sosua or Cabarete, i would rather buy them in town and not have to lug them from the airport but if there is a big difference maybe i would think twice. If anyone knows any stores with good prices, please let me know.

Thanks.

Prices

Duty free prices leaving Canada are good as compared to the prices in Canadian Liquor outlets.
Normally a bottle of rum in Canada 40 oz. (not Brugal)is $30 CDn.(24US)
On the planes and at the duty free leaving it was $18 CDn. (14US)
Brugal Anejo in the super mercado was 85 peso's which converted is approximately $2.20 US
At the duty free coming back in POP they wanted $16 US for the same rum.

Buy them in town at a super mercado.

Hi Karl,

Greetings from Atlantic Canada.

Best prices at Super Super in Sosua.

I ended up buying mostly at Supermercado Playero simply because Super Super didn't stock the 1750 ml. brugal Extra Viejo that I wanted.
