Again, for the amusement of all, three interesting pieces [from Washington Post where else] :

1. Long obituary for Ambassador Richard Stephenson [DR in 1956], who investigated the kidnapping from the US and probable government murder in the DR of Spanish agitator Jesus de Galindez.

2. Long article on Dominican-style street language taking hold in New York

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28835-2003Dec24.html

3. Brief mention of Washington Ballet Corps member, Michele Jimenez -- astounding in that the merengue and Brugal isn't mentioned once.

Best, P

Hmmm

Pasha,
Interesting piece.Anyways,I think that dominican spainish spoken in the u.s. is destined to go the same route that puerto rican spainish has.I mean, mucho neworkian urban slang in the mix.

Lol! many other nationalities of spainish speakers already accuse dominicans(in the DR)of butchering the spainish language,so.....
