Default Advice on things to do in SD

Hi I'm staying in santo domingo for a few months to study Spanish. Ive come on my own and am finding i have alot of time on my hands. I can hold a conversation in Spanish and i was wondering does anyone have any advice on things to do while I'm here. I'm 23 and this is my first time abroad and i would love to immerse myself in the culture but not quite how to mix in with the locals....

Just walk to the local Colmado (grocery store) pull up chair and get yourself a couple of Grande Presidentes. Enjoy the music, and soon you'll be immersing yourself in the 2nd national pastime, other than baseball.
