I plan to live in the DR for one year and I need an apartment in Santo Domingo, but it's really hard to find them on the internet. I am looking for 1 bed/1 bath, possibly with a terrace and view of malecon; third floor. What are the nice areas in SD? How much are apartments in these areas typically? Thanks!

Hola LSimone!!!!!!!!

Have you checked with Remax????
Also, are you here or in another country????
If your here, have you tried the local papers.
Also some of the news papers and even DR1, have the classifieds on line.

How's your Spanish??????

Hey Tim!

Thanks so much for responding! I'm in the U.S. actually. My Spanish is pretty good. Apartamento. Alquiler. Haha. So I guess I'll check for DR newspapers online in the classified sections. But the thing is, I don't know the personal side of living there, so I was hoping maybe you can tell me about the charateristics of some sections. Is there a yuppie section; a lively section where there are a lot of movie theaters and action at night? I'm in my early 20s and I don't want to live in an area with retirees, but safety is also a big issue.

Hola, back at ya!!!

OK, your Spanish is a good thing!!!!

Have you spent time here before????

I think the S.D. is a great place for what you?re looking for!!!

If you don't want to be around retiree?s, Then stay AWAY, from the NORTH SHORE!!!!! It's filled to capacity with skirt-chasing, Viagra Addicted, FOSSILES, like AZB, ESCOTT, etc, etc.....

CLICK HERE TO SEE THEM ON FILM!!!!!

I live 15min, outside the Capital, so I'll let the others, make the suggestions.

hahaha, no wayyyyyyyyy. So North Shore is OUT of the picture. One last question- would it be safe to say that $300 U.S. dollars a month could be the limit for a nice 1 bed room/1 bath apartment with a terrace in SD??? I'm so lost on what could possibly be a ripoff price. I saw a post for $5000 U.S. dollars a month in SD and I really just want a good idea of the prices.

Thanks soooo much. I am reading your story- thanks!!!

apartment

Just saw a furnished apartment for rent lastnight. Its about 1/2 block from the Malecon next to the park near Montecino. I don't know the price but the number is 685-3856 and the celular is 851-3986. Its 3rd floor. Nice. I think its 2 bedrooms.
