Hey folks,

is it best to change my Euros do US$ before I come or can I also change the Euros at some acceptable rate direct in Pesos?

Bring US$ with you

Both UK? and Euro are being "short-changed" by casas de cambio in DR for less than their true market value. While one EURO is worth roughly US$1.25 on the international market, I noticed that casas de cambio or banks here treat EURO as no more than US$1.15 or worse. Similar gaps exist for UK?.

In DR, US$ is king.

Enough said.

yes, bring US

100 Euro = 125 US

100 Euro (sample exchange rate 52.50 as in CDN today) = 5250 Pesos

125 US (sample exchange rate 46.56 as in CDN today) = 5820 Pesos

Exchange rates change every day, but if the Dollar goes up / down, so does the Euro.

So, when you bring US you would 'win' roughly 600 Pesos per 100 Euro, which is about 12 beers on Cabarete beach.

Today's rates

Are 53:1 for US$ and only 57:1 for Euros, so if the relationship of Euro to $ is better than 57/53 then bring US$ with you instead.
