If you plan to visit Puerta Plata, Sosua, or Cabarete in the Dominican Republic and wish to contribute something to the local school children who are extremely poor we have a great recommendation for you!

Just Imagine is a program that supports a country school that is in need of school supplies along with books in Spanish. If you are interested in bringing things with you to donate to the school we will be happy to supply you with a specific list of what is needed, e-mail your questions to hotclimates02@yahoo.com or angie@internet.net.do. Or, bring what you can. Books in English are not very useful as the children are taught in Spanish only.

School supplies can be dropped off at EPS Sosua Business Services, #12 Calle Pedro Clisante in Sosua or EPS Cabarete Business Services in Cabarete on the main street that runs through town (Highway #5) next to the taxi stand.

The great thing about Just Imagine and what sets it apart from other charities is that it is run completely by volunteers. Every cent contributed goes to help the children. The volunteers are professional people who live and work in the Sosua, Cabarete area.

Just Imagine, which grew out of an eight year old Toys for Tots Christmas project, started last year by sponsoring over 40 kids to attend school by providing uniforms, books, shoes, school supplies, etc., for them. We have already raised enough money to sponsor 80 children next fall.

Just Imagine is in the planning stages to build a library next to Escuela Bella Vista, (School of the Beautiful View). This is a big undertaking and the community and the school are lending their full support including sweat equity to construct the building. We have set up a library fund to help pay for construction and books. We are very proud that our average contribution has gone from $20 USD to over $100 USD. Naturally any amount is most appreciated.

In advance, thank you!

This is the same program that I have been writing about. I encourage all dr1ers coming to the Sosua/Cabarete to give serious consideration to participating.

To arrange for a visit of the school we are supporting, you can contact Angie Wolff at angie@internet.net.do
