I won't take anything away from Jeter's postseason stats, although Mark Lemke had some pretty outstanding numbers in the postseason for the Braves as well. That, however, does not in a million years qualify him to be in the top 10 in player salaries. His regular season numbers have consistently dropped over the last few years, as has his range and play at SS.
Not only is Jeter not the best player on his team during the run, Bernie was, he's about the 4th best player at his position in the sport. Putting him 4th, in 2004, is also giving him the benefit of the doubt, as one can argue that Renteria, Berroa and Furcal are just as good.
If Jeter were on the Royals, he would be, well Angel Berroa. No press, no fuss. Jeter was also voted on ESPN as the 2nd or 3rd most over-rated athlete of ALL-TIME.
Jeter's aura is 100% NY and Yankee made. He's had a few good years, but when you compare them to Arod, Nomar and Tejada, they pale in comparison. In this juiced up baseball world, who can't hit 10hr and 52rbi's, as a part-time player, let alone an everyday "Star?"
