My office has upgraded their computer and are letting the staff "shop" the old ones, we would like to send one to my husband's siblings in Santo Domingo, and we would like to know the safest means of shipping it so it doesn't get broken. I searched the archives and didn't find anything....particular to computers. I'm guessing it wouldn't be more than 50 lbs. Would you suggest a fedex or perhaps American Airline Cargo? Also is this taxed by customs even though it's used???

We do have a contact in the airport that will get things out for us if we pay them, but it has to be a suitcase type of thing I believe.

Any suggestions are appreciated...I doubt it's valued at more than $500....

Thanks

Shipping computer

I shipped mine last year.Throug EPS,a dominican forwarding company. It was about 3 US dollars a pound last year, but has gone to about $5 a pound. The customs on computers was 4%. I paid about 10 dollars. But then, you NEVER know until it happens here! When they go to pick it up,they can say;"500 dollars please!"......"What a Country!" Cris Colon :bandit:
