I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but I just heard that the construction in the park of Sosua is not being done because it is being remodelled, but sold to Sosua Bay Club and they are building there. That would explain to me why they're working so busily there.

Does anyone have information what's being built?
Is the whole thing legal?

They are building a casino and convention center. It is a 99 year lease. I have my doubts if it is legal and I would bet my bottom dollar someone got greased real good to give up the Central Park in Sosua to a Company such as Starz Resorts.

THey have released effluent into the streets many times and although they have cleaned it up create an unsafe envirnment for their neighbors. They have NO parking and block the streets constantly. I think that they do more harm than good for Sosua I am sorry to say.

Now this is really disappointing.

When I first saw the big poster of how the park was going to be rebuilt, I was really happy, to have a nice spot in Sosua soon, to sit, relax, meet people, a childrens playground etc there. The poster is still there by the taxi stand, at the Morua Mai corner. It could have been great. Just no quick peso to be made with such a park.
Of course I understand that the "Starz" had more convincing arguments.

It's like selling Sosua beach to an oil refinery.

gerd, what makes you think the park won't look like that when finished?

I have just spent 5 weeks in Sosua and cannot figure out where the park is. Could you enlighten me?

To the right of Vodoo Lounge and infront of Sosua Bay Hotel.
If take the road down the hill to the beach you cannot miss the construction
zone on the right.

snoozer, do you know where La Roca restaurant is on the main street of Sosua? Across the street is the taxi stand, and behind it is the park with a construction fence around it. Except for the taxi stand, that entire block is a construction zone.

For information, as part of the process, the taxi stand will be moved from its present location to the street that runs parallel to the main street.
