Hi:
I will be living in the RD for the summer and wanted to find out if it is a good idea to open up a bank account there? Is that possible to do from here? Should I just go to the branch of the bank that I deal with here in the US and talk to them about it?

Comments appreicated.

Thanks,

Jenny

Just wait till you get here as I think you wont be able to do it from the States. Get a letter from your bank that says you are a good customer and dont forget to bring your passport with you.

Get an atm card because that is the most handy thing and you will find you can use it at stores that take credit cards.

Thanks for the reply & info!
I wouldn't have thought of bringing a letter from my bank.

Not worth it just for the summer!

Setting up an account for that short a period of time is not wort the "Hassle" it would take! As "Escott" says, use you "ATM" card. The machines are everywhere just like where you live.Just take out as little as you need at a time. This "Ain't Kansas!CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
