I'm staying at Secrets Excellence in a few weeks in Punta Cana. Does anyone know if they have an ATM on site or nearby? Should I bother to pick up some Dominican money before I come down, or is the US dollar widely accepted for excursions, etc.? Is there anything that absolutely requires that I have DR cash on hand?

Thanks

ATM's and Money!!!!!!!

:) My family and I have just returned from the DR.
What I know from my experience is dont bother changing your money into Peso's. American currency is fine.
We stayed on the North Coast of the DR. The ATM machine was in the village of Luperon, on the back of a truck with armed guards.
I'm glad we didnt have to use that method for money.
We took American Dollars and had no problems what so ever.
Also, I had checked at one of the Currency Booths at the airport, and they advised me to just use the US Money.
Hope this is of help to you.
Have a great vacation
