advice/info please

Hi
A friend and myself (both female) are looking into spending six months or longer in Puerto Plata.

Can anyone give us the names of any places/people to contact regarding accomodation, prices etc or any other advice you may think useful.

what is a ball park figure we should work with for accomodation?

would be appreciated

Do a search for posts by BushBaby, then contact him by PM or email. He has lived in Puerto Plata for a long time and knows more about that city than anyone else on the board.

Best option

I recommend staying at the Puerto Plata Beach Resort and Casino. They have small suites with 2 full size beds, bathroom and a small kitchen/living room. Also there's a small terrace to enjoy some fresh air. All for the price of $1000 pesos per day. This would work out to $21.05 US per day. Split between both you and your friend would be around $11 bucks each.

Just check the room out before you decide on the one you like. Some of them are in better condition than others. The only inconveneances are that the power goes out between 9am and 12pm and 1pm and 3pm or some hours inbetween. And they don't have a resturant on premise so you have to either stock food in your room or eat out everyday.

Other than that, it's a nice place and right on the shore so your 5 minutes from the beach. They also have a pool. I'll see if I can get the number.

Tell them you would like to book a room or the double suite if you want a little more privacy. The double suite goes for 1800 pesos. But the regular is more than spacious.

Thanks for that, another question if I could be so cheeky ha ha
we are planning to travel with enough money to keep us going for a few months but then we will need to work, how easy/hard is it to find work in the Puerto Plata area? niether of us mind what we do but I am more inclined to trying the big hotels for a job in the entertainment crews because I have dance and sports qualifications and I am not shy so think I would be suited to it do they employee non local people very often??? I have contacted Petrotec aswell and they have said send a c.v but an "office" job is what we want to leave behind in U.k we would rather do somthing more fun bar work etc,

getting on a bit now time to cut loose and have fun before I settle down ha ha (I'm 27 by the way incase you was wondering) :)
