The intention of this post is by no means to scare anyone. Just want to inform for those of you not knowing the fact, that this 1st/jun officially begins the Hurricane Season. It ends on November 30. This means the time when hurricanes and storms are more expected. We haven't had any serious "visitors" since the sadly remembered Georges, september 98, but no one knows when this things are going to occur. Take your precautions. You have been notified.

If you are a tourist the only precaution you need to take is to check back with dr1 around the time of your trip for the rare event that a hurricane is hitting the island. Note that hurricanes move quickly, so there can be a hurricane in the area, and it's gone the next day.

If you are a resident, then you need to be prepared regardless that it may be 10-20 years between hurricanes.

See http://www.dr1.com/weather/hurricanes.shtml for info on hurricanes and the DR.
