You know I have had Paella all over the world and every country is slightly different but they all are good. I have not had it in the DR yet any good sugestions for getting it on the North Coast. Also is there a difference with the DR version that makes it stand out?

If it is served as paella, it is probably just a version of the traditional Spanish dish, of which there are many variations. Dominican rice dishes like asopao and locrio are paella-influenced, but have their own special characteristics. The rice section of the Dominican Cooking site has all the information you will need, including a recipe for seafood paella.
