We are going to the DR the end of June and staying at the grand flamenco punta cana. Does anyone know about this resort and also any trips we should take? How is the weather at this time? We are planning on bringing some school supplies and other items but who do we give them to? Thanks for any help you might give.

Well, it's a four star for a reason...not such a good thing. Do not forget to make your dinner reservations the day before as told other wise you will be eating in the heat. Nothing like a little sweat while your trying to enjoy a meal. If your room feels a bit warm, call for the maintenance man...he needs to fix the AC. Once it's working correctly you'll have no complaints about it. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE AN IRON. If you are not VIP you can forget about getting one. Instead, you will have to pay for drying cleaning service...oh that's also a day in advance. Ya might want to take a snack to the room here and there seeing how they do not have a resteraunt that remains open all night. After staying at a five star resort...this was a disappointment. They do have a good club though :D All in all I think you will enjoy your stay...these are just things to pay attention to.

As for taking any trips, if you want to give your school supplies to children or teachers at a school, the Outback Safari is probably your best bet. Do not take the Bavaro Runners, they tell you that they stop at a school, but they do not. We made that mistake in May. We took a lot of school supplies and our rep and our guide told us that we would stop at a school. All we did was drive past a school, and the guide told us it was a school. When I did the Outback Safari in September, we stopped at a school and went in to the classroom where you can give your supplies to the teacher. Outback also donates some money to the school and the other stops that you go to. Much better trip.
