No I'm not sick but maybe it was too late to stop the project and bury the money.
The old baseball stadium in Puerto Plata is getting it's long promised new lights.
This is not to say they will ever be wired up and work but installation is about half complete.
Had the opportunity to go thru the place yesterday. What a sad site with such great potential. The facility out shines many a double A and a few triple A ballparks in the states. 335' down the lines and 385' across center field. Seating was over 8000 with close to 5000 seats with backs under roof that still look almost new. The grass field has been maintained and the only thing the diamond needs is to have the batters box and base lines striped.
Dugouts open into locker rooms and there's one reference to the past on the wall, Pirates del Atlantico, the old POP team.
For those not familiar, as the story goes, because of the excessive rainfall on the north coast causing too many rainouts, the POP team folded up it's tent and baseball went away.
Better take a look at the nice lights before the latrones hit em.
